Event Details
GirlTrek is the largest free national public health nonprofit and movement for Black women and girls. With more than 200,000 trekkers/walkers nationwide, we encourage Black women and girls to use radical self-care and walking as the first practical step to leading a healthier, more fulfilled life. We know that the health and self-care of Black women and families is important to you. We also know that walking is proven to be the single most powerful thing a Black woman can do to improve her health. Not only that, but history has shown us – from the world’s greatest freedom fighter Harriet Tubman to the Montgomery Bus Boycotts – “when Black women walk, things change!” We walk for the healing of our bodies and spirits. Our families. Our communities. Our world.
To this end, GirlTrek is hosting the #RoadToSelma 50-city tour to find the brightest and bravest Black women in America to stand on the frontlines with us. Together, we will unleash a brand-new culture of health and healing for Black people. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, check out the 1:20 mark Oprah Winfrey’s Introduction of GirlTrek’s national tour. Will you walk with us?
